Personal Allowances

Posted by on 20 May 2010 | 0 Comments

Great news for anyone who pays tax (being most of us). Personal allowances are set to rise to £10,000. Your personal allowance is the amount of money which you can earn before you have to pay tax. For example: I work at Q Co and earn £8,000 a year. Because I earn under £10,000 I don't pay tax. However, I get a huge pay increase to £12,00 a year. I would then pay tax on £2000, because £10,000 of what I earn is covered by my personal allowance. There aren't many ways to increase your personal allowance, the best way is by being old, but there are several different ways to save tax free. For instance, we can all put away £5,100 into cash ISAs and gain around 2.5% interest on it. Better than a kick in the teeth. For more ways to save tax and keep more of what you earn. I'm afraid to tell you...

Posted by on 18 May 2010 | 0 Comments

With the coalition government starting to find it's feet, there has been an unusual occurrence in the passover. The former Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Liam Bryne, has left a note on the desk of David Laws, his replacement saying the following:

I'm afriad to tell you that there is no money left.
Supposedly comical however worrying considering the £163 billion defficit our country has. This also makes the budget on the 22nd June to be even more critical. Further details regarding the note can be found on The Times website.

BT Customer Street

Posted by admin on 5 May 2010 | 0 Comments

In this post we are going to be discussing a new con that could potentially be very costly for your business. BT Customer Street have been promising a high quality website on the first page of Google but simply not delivering. We give you the lowdown on who they are and offer links to disgruntled customers and further compliants. We are all aware of the well respected name BT. However, BT Customer street, formerly ufindus Ltd, are advertising website design, guaranteeing to be on the first page of google and promising the website will be live in 7 days. Whereas a local business who we work has been waiting 4 weeks to get the website up and running, let alone displaying the correct phone number and portraying the company correctly. The business, lets call them, S Limited, was sucked into a sale that sounded to good to be true. Not being techsavvy, the offer sounded good and they eventually took them up. A sales rep came out to them and discussed the website and said he would be there if S Ltd needed any assistance. However S Ltd have not seen the rep since and have been left in the dark with an inaccurate and costly website that still is not correct. The moral of the story is: If it sounds good to be true, it probably is. It is important to find out who you are working with to ensure you are not dealing with cowboys. There are further comments regarding BT Customer Street on the BT Complaints website and on Money Saving Expert.
